Townhouse 1: Washington, DC
This small historic townhouse was dark, decayed and cramped. By removing interior partitions and adding walls of glass, the space was opened up and the line of sight was directed through the house to the outside gardens. Brick from the back wall was reclaimed for construction of the patio and planting beds, and the original vintage sink was re-used in the new kitchen. Exposed brick walls, large new window configurations, and inspired mid-century modern detailing bring this once tired house, vibrantly into the 21st century.
