An existing late 1800's townhouse is being completely transformed into a modern home with a focus on entertaining. Existing historical details are incorporated into new open, light filled and flexible spaces.
This new art gallery is being designed in an existing space along the vibrant Fourteenth Street corridor in Washington, DC. The large glass storefront will be restored to encourage interaction between the street life and the exhibition space. Movable translucent interior partitions will create spatial flexibility and "off-the-shelf" materials will be utilized in unique ways within the gallery.
Unobstructed views of the National Mall from the terrace inspired the design for this condo renovation. The original warren of small rooms was demolished to create a more open and flexible space. Large enough to entertain many guests yet comfortable for daily living, the new layout will fit the client's changing needs.
